Mississauga – Ward 9 Councillor Pat Saito is pleased to welcome Parkrun Canada to Mississauga as they launch the first Parkrun in the city on Saturday, March 24 at Lake Aquitaine Park.
Parkrun is a free, weekly fun and sociable 5 km run. Participants can walk, run or wheelchair around Lake Aquitaine with other residents who want company for a morning activity. It is not a race and participants go at their own speed and comfort level. This is an international program with hundreds of thousands of people participating around the world.
“I thank the organizer, Lawrence Jeffrey, for selecting Lake Aquitaine as the first Parkrun location in Mississauga and working to make this happen. It is the perfect venue and I am already hearing from residents who are looking forward to having company on their morning walks and runs around the lake” said Councillor Saito.
The inaugural run takes place on Saturday March 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the southeast corner of the Meadowvale Community Centre at Lake Aquitaine.
Runs will take place every Saturday at 9 am and everyone is welcome to join at any time. Participants can register on parkrun.ca to have their times recorded online or they can just come out and do any length of a walk or run. As this is a non-profit activity, volunteers are always needed to help with recording at the runs.
