For the third time, MiWay has received an overall customer satisfaction rating of 82 per cent in the bi-annual market research study done between November and December 2015.
“The high overall customer service rating shows us that we are on the right path as we focus on customer service and growth in ridership,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director of Transit. “The results tell us that our customers want more frequent and reliable service. The City of Mississauga is making it easier and less costly to register second units as part of its commitment to increasing access to affordable housing. City Council today approved a new By-law that will improve the registration process for second units, also known as basement apartments, in-law suites and secondary units.
The City has repealed the current licensing process and will now require that houses containing a second unit be registered.

The City of Mississauga’s Encroachment By-law is getting updated with a new, user-friendly process for residents interested in installing and maintaining boulevard gardens on public lands.
“It is wonderful to see a user-friendly process available to residents who are passionate about their gardens,” said Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey. “Our city has so many talented gardeners with great visons that are making our city beautiful.”
Council directed that Works Operations and Maintenance staff review the Encroachment By-law to streamline the installation of boulevard garden encroachments.
“City staff has developed a simpler process for residents wanting to install and maintain boulevard gardens,” said Bob Levesque Acting Director Works Operations and Maintenance. “The current Encroachment By-law prohibits encroachments onto public lands except where a minor encroachment agreement exists. These conditions are not suitable to boulevard gardens. The new process will allow residents to enter into a written agreement for boulevard gardens separate from a formal Encroachment Agreement or Minor Encroachment Agreement. Residents are encouraged to apply for a permit in advance of planting. The following is a statement by Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, following a vote by Peel Regional Council to increase the size of Peel Council by adding an additional 8 regional councillors, to bring the total to 32 regional councillors:
“Mississauga Council is not in support of adding more politicians to Peel Regional Council and especially not an additional 8 members. This proposal to increase Regional Council to 32 is unnecessary and will result in excessive costs that taxpayers’ will have to pay for.
“Mississauga has made the conscious decision to have 12 wards and each councillor provides strong representation to on average 64,000 residents. This is a smart, responsible and balanced ratio.
“I do not believe there is a desire to add more politicians without a compelling business case.
“We all agree that Brampton has been underrepresented at Regional Council. Mississauga put forward a responsible plan to remedy this, based on the principle of representation by population.
